The Thuerck Family is proud to bring their love of New York City food and theatre back to Western New York.
Owner Greyt Thuerck, former Executive Chef for "The Aud Club," at the historical Buffalo Sabres Memorial Auditorium, opened Lancaster's Broadway Deli with wife, Michele, in 2005. Their three daughters, Lyndsey, Alexandra and youngest Addisyn, as well as cousins Kelly and Katy, have been involved in local theatre and competitive dance since toddlers. Most of childhood was spent on the stage, and fond family memories of visiting traditional NYC deli's and seeing Broadway Musicals. They choose a location on Broadway St, in their hometown of Lancaster, NY next the the famed "Lancaster Opera House" to create an exceptional food experience featuring grilled gourmet panini sandwiches, daily house-made soups and fresh side salads immersed with Broadway show tunes and memorabilia from Local, Regional and Broadway Theatre's.
In 2011, youngest daughter Addisyn was diagnosed with Celiac's Disease, shortly followed by both Alexandra and Lyndsey. Family parties, dining out for special occasions, and even packing lunches for school and work became troublesome. As the family felt discouraged from the limited options of gluten-free restaurants and restricted menu options, they took care and focused attention to create a solution.
Lancaster's Broadway Deli is now considered Buffalo's Original Gluten-Free Restaurant. Unlike traditional restaurants that offer small, supplementary gluten-free menu items and disclose "we are not a gluten free kitchen and cannot guarantee no cross-contamination has occurred," they offer their entire menu to be made gluten-free and utilize separate kitchen spaces and utensils to ensure food safety.
